Dr. Cross enjoys performing the broad range of surgical skills required in general surgery, vascular, thoracic and laparoscopic/thorascopic procedures. A strong proponent of minimally invasive surgery, he performed the FIRST laparoscopic hernia repair at Loudoun Hospital in 1991 with over 1400 repairs performed and since then performed the FIRST thorascopic lobectomy at Loudoun Hospital for a lung mass in 1994. He has special interest in laparoscopic surgery for gallbladder, inguinal and abdominal wall hernias, colon, anti-reflux surgery and splenectomy.

Another first for Dr. Cross at Loudoun Hospital was to initiate Laparoscopic Robotic Assisted surgery for gallbladder removal including the Single-Site surgery through one small umbilical incision.  Also adding Robotic repair of inguinal, ventral, and incisional hernias and Robotic colon resection.  Having help pioneer the beginning of the advanced laparoscopic general surgery in our region since 1990, he feels Robotic Surgery is the next major advance in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.
